Terrapin is grateful for the opportunity to offer equine rehabilitation at our facility to those who are in need of this service.  Our protocol is to simply follow the treatment plan established by the horse's owner and their vet.  If issues arise with your horse while on our premises, you and your vet are notified immediately.  Any treatment changes required will be administered upon your approval.

Providing rehabilitation for your horse can be difficult and time consuming which can prove challenging to handle on your own at home.  We have over 30 years of experience with nursing our own and our client's sick and injured horses.  Most of our rehab horses are here because of the owner's time constraints and/or their inability to perform required treatments. 

Typical rehabilitation usually involves washing, wrapping and soaking wounds, taking vitals, hand walking, administering medication, etc.  Rehabilitation may also involve providing several small meals a day to your horse after a serious colic and continuous monitoring to avoid further health problems or a relapse.  Although we have always offered these services to our boarders, it became apparent (through requests from the public) that we should offer this service to all in need....and we are happy to do so!

Rehab Board Fee                                                 $20.00/day

Rehab Treatment services are pro-rated at   $25.00/hr

Night Watch Fee (2-3 hour intervals)             $20.00/night

Our rehab board fee does not include feed, hay and bedding.  You are welcome to provide your own, or for a fee, we will supply what your horse requires.  You will be charged for exactly what your horses uses rather than a flat fee. This helps keep costs down for the client.  Your daily board fee covers the cost of your stall, separate turn out (if needed) and performing all feedings and stall maintenance along with plenty of TLC for your horse :-)

By pro-rating rehab treatment services by the hour it allows us to keep costs down as your horse improves and requires "eyes on" rather than "hands on" treatment from us.  The owner is responsible for all supplies and medications required for your horse's treatment plan.  You may bring your own or we will supply them and charge you accordingly.  Of course, prescription medications must be provided by your veterinarian.  All rehab horses require a negative coggins upon arrival.  We do not accept horses with any disease that could put our horses at risk.  Horses are welcome to come in on short notice or feel free to schedule a research visit in advance.  We hope to fill the "gap" in our area for this service!

Our facility is the place to come when your horse is released from continuous vet care and you are unable to handle their after-care treatment at home.  We are happy to be of service and enjoy being involved in the healing process.

We do not diagnose ailments nor do we provide prescriptive medicines.  We are not engaged in rendering medical advice.
